WILL YOU MARRY ME?

The World's Most Romantic Proposals

Athletic to Zany Wedding Proposals . . .

AS SEEN ON "SALLY JESSY RAPHAEL" AND "MIKE & MATY"

-Mark Victor Hansen, Co-author, Chicken Soup for the Soul

With winter holidays and then Valentine's Day on its way, love and perhaps marriage is on everyone's mind. But what's the best way to pop the question? In the middle of a bungee-jump? By burying the ring on a sandy beach? Via the Internet? Cynthia Clumeck Muchnick offers a virtual "hope chest" of ideas for romantic engagements in WILL YOU MARRY ME?
Muchnick interviewed over 50 couples for this entertaining collection of anecdotes. Descriptions vary from cozy candlelit dinners to daring skydiving proposals. In the chapter on "High Flying Proposals" romance takes off when a pilot proposes to a woman over the P.A. system. The author even shares her own story: while at the Rodin Sculpture Garden in Paris, her then boyfriend Adam proposed with the letters of a scrabble game. The couple now lives happily ever after in Southern California.
WILL YOU MARRY ME? may inspire readers to do as one bungee-jumping couple did Ð take the plunge.

Read it. Will You Marry Me? The World's Most Romantic Proposals and 101 Ways to Pop the Question for inspiration.

Plan it. Start by thinking about the place you first kissed, interests you and your partner share, your favorite restaurant, movies, etc. Use these personal themes as a starting point to plan a proposal unique and meaningful to your own relationship.

Formalize it. Consider getting on one knee when you propose and, if you have a good relationship with your future in-laws, think about asking their permission (especially if you are certain you will get their approval). These gallant moves only win brownie points with your partner and family.

Do it. Remember, proposals do not have to be expensive and elaborate to be memorable. Creativity and planning, though, help insure that all-important personal touch. Enlist the support and participation of family and friends if you need to. Now, go for it and pop the question!

Share it. Tell your story to friends and family and pass it along as a family folk tale. People love proposal stories and you get to relive the moment of your engagement in the telling.
